DIY Iron Man reactor light

Are you a big fan of the Marvel movies? Or more specifically is Iron Man your favorite? If yes, you’re going to love this DIY project. Today we are going to show you how to make your very own Iron Man reactor light from scratch to put on your Iron Man suit! With this simple DIY project, you no longer need to worry about your costume for Halloween! Read more to find out how it is made.

Products needed for this DIY project:

1.      3D printer

2.      LED lights

3.      NodeMCU

4.      Power source

Let’s get started with our DIY project!

Step 1:

The first step is to make your very own iron man reactor light is to make a rough model on your computer. Once you’ve made a basic shape, start adding the small details to it. Since this is a DIY project, you can personalize this to make it unique to your likes and preferences so feel free to use whichever patterns you want for your iron man reactor light.

Step 2:

After you’ve made your design and you’re satisfied with it, plug it into your 3D printer to start printing. Make sure to print the top and the bottom half separately since we need an opening to insert the lights. Make sure that your basic shapes look like the one’s given in the picture below. You’ll also need an almost transparent white sheet for this DIY. This 3D printing process could take a while so while that is getting completed you could binge-watch your favorite Iron Man movies!

Step 3:

Once both the parts have been 3D printed to your liking, you need to sand down the edges to eliminate the rough edges and harsh lines created by the 3D printing and give it a smoother finish. For this, you can simply take a small piece of sanding paper and rub it all over the 3D printed parts until it’s smooth enough. Make sure that none of the details get rubbed off by sanding too hard.

Step 4:

We now need to work on the lights that will take our DIY project to the next level. For this, you’ll need a mini NodeMCU and a small strip of ARGB LED lights. Using a soldering iron, carefully solder the wires of the LED lights onto the NodeMCU. Make sure to do this in a well-ventilated area since the fumes of the soldering iron can be harmful.

Step 5:

Now we can finally start assembling all the parts and move one step closer to completing our Iron Man reactor light! Using some super glue, carefully glue down the NodeMCU onto the bottom piece of our Iron Man reactor light. Then, stick the LED lights all around the inner walls of the bottom piece and cut off the excess.

Step 6:

The final step is to fit the almost transparent white sheet onto this bottom piece by cutting it to the required shape and size. Then, attach the top piece of our Iron Man reactor light to complete the base of our DIY project! Now all that’s left to do is to connect it to a power source and program it according to your needs.

Your Iron Man reactor light is now complete! You can now either place this somewhere in your room or you could even attach it to your Halloween costume. For using it as a costume all you’ll have to do is carry a power bank with you and connect it to your Iron Man reactor light so that the lights work according to your liking. We hope we have been able to fulfill your childhood dreams by making your favorite superhero a part of you through this DIY project! Enjoy your latest creation!
